it's jer's thread cuz HE STARTED IT!!!! THAT FUCK!!!

actually, if i remember correctly, i had an online reunion of sorts here with a friend from england whom i'd met
@ a fire theft show during tft's 1st tour... which turned into a catching up regarding my plans to do an away
rotation in a hospice... which morphed into meditations on the meaning of life and death... which mutated into
a cage match between me and garrett regarding "infinity"... and i have no idea how it even got to that "infinity"
shite to be honest. i just like having fisticuffs against garrett...

i doubt jeremy even cares about all this. but if he does, his voodoo doll ain't working properly. jer, i can't feel
the pins in my eyeballs yet, dude.

so jon, should we continue this mental masturbation or change it to something more productive-- like waffles,
or why garrett's car really DOES smell like garlic stuffed inside an 18 month-old unwashed sweaty tube sock?

*enter said friend from england*

you know, i did kind of start what has turned into what i am calling the "infinity war"
(partly because i know it will go on for that long), and yet my post count has hardly
gone up at all *sigh*

oh well, back to that stupid assignment that is due in tomorrow morning...

if we were to actually abstain from "mental masterbation"...we would be without 95% of
all things posted on the internet.

haha, this is the most ridiculously stupid thread ever. well, everything after page one.

garrett, seriously, you must be playing devils advocate. you talk about poor logic but you
say, "yeah, they're going to die, but so is everyone else in this world." which is
equating a healthy 23 year old with an 85 year old. and dont give me that, "is the 23 year
old really perfectly healthy? is there such a thing as perfect health?."

"garrett - way too cartesian here buddy. thought has progressed several thousand years
past 'cogito ergo sum'. you rely too much on the nature of language for your arguments,
and it is in precisely this arena of discussion (infinity, and other metaphysical
discussions) where our language just isn't equipped to acurately describe that of which
we speak. things like 'say some observer WAS outside of existence' break down in
fundamental meaning because to say something WAS (therefore it existed) outside the
scope of 'existence' just doesn't work. it's not possible unless there is some Thing
that isn't subject to the laws of the universe (which i believe there is)."

Baggins--not cartesian at all--it's all existentialist, which I am not. If you start out
with a blank slate and only know from what you've experienced, you would never know
infinity. you can experience the sight of 1 sheep, 100 sheep, maybe even 100,000 sheep.
That's a whole lot of sheep, right? Well, when have you ever experienced infinite sheep?
Never, that's when. Never is something that can be experienced. I've never died. I
might do it promptly after posting, but my point has already been made.

Either way, you can experience things being small, big, bigger, and even things getting to
be very large in a very fast manner, but you can never experience things being infinite in
a finite frame of mind given mere existence and the idea of tabula rasa. It requires our
innate ability to think beyond what we exist, or it requires that we be given some
knowledge coming into this existence.

"garrett, seriously, you must be playing devils advocate. you talk about poor logic but
you say, 'yeah, they're going to die, but so is everyone else in this world.' which is
equating a healthy 23 year old with an 85 year old. and dont give me that, 'is the 23 year
old really perfectly healthy? is there such a thing as perfect health?.'"

well, faust, pardon my logic...I guess 23 year olds don't die, but 85 year olds do. I
don't know what school you went to, but I should get there soon before I get too old to
die. Crap, I never knew--thank you.

faust, when I say age doesn't matter and all the other crap I said...you focus on the crap
and not the principle point (that is the problem)--the point is rather simple, is it ok to
kill yourself? If the answer is yes, it is yes for everyone. If the answer is no, it is
no for everyone. You can't say that killing yourself is wrong, then turn around and
say...ahhh, well, just this once--it goes against the very principle of the idea. Age
doesn't matter, health doesnt' matter, they're all circumstances that only flavor the
principle...principles do not bend to your whims.

Hello all. Comforting to see that all the old players are still involved here on TFT
site.
Besides infinity chats and bickers, what's everyone been up to? Actually, I'm going to
post a new topic in the correct venue, so look for it and respond to me there if you
like.

Ok I know this is like ten years after the fact but I just wanted to say I agree with
frog queen, Jeremy, you've got to play philly or somewhere in PA. We've got to see you on
your tour or if nothing else on your next Fire theft tour. Oh and thanks for all the
awesome music, you are amazing! God Bless you Jeremy!

seeing as he won't go on a u.s. tour til august, i'll now have to change my requested venues to anything in baltimore,
which i know won't happen. ::sigh::

at the very least, i hope lots of people try to record some awesome bootlegs. no telling when a tour like this will
happen again!

I agree. People who are on this message board should be givin signed copies of jeremy new
album. By the way, Jeremy are you going to be performing any dates before recording the
solo album in seattle? I can not wait for your solo effort!
